Wherever You Are
“Wherever You are” is a film based on the Max Lucado story of rebellion and redemption. It stars Elizabeth Keener (“Death Sentence”) as Katherine, a spirited teenager who finds herself alone in a seedy underworld of strip clubs after running away from home. As she looks back on her life with a co-worker (Kaira Whitehead, “Madea’s Family Reunion”), she receives a letter from her father, which she stores in a drawer with the stack of other unopened letters she’s received from him over the years. Prompted by her fellow stripper, the young woman goes on to describe her life with a caring, compassionate father (Eric Williams) and how she rebelled against him and ran off with her boyfriend to “the city,” only to be later abandoned by him and forced to take up stripping to pay the rent.
After these moments of reflection, Katherine decides to open the letters from her father bracing herself for backlash and lectures on how she’s screwed up her life. In them she finds a message that her father knows where she works, and he doesn’t care — he just wants her to come home. With those loving words she finds reason and the courage to return home. Arriving at her childhood home on her birthday, she finds a gathering in her honor. Once again she dances with her father like she did when she was just a little girl.
